Many believe that a written employment contract is important to specifically describe the relationship between the association and manager and to serve as the basis of communication between them as they fulfill their responsibilities in the operation of the association. An employment contract is an agreement that states the terms of employment, such as the compensation, benefits, hours, duties and responsibilites. The contract will also include provisions for termination of the contract by either party. Managers report that sometimes contracts are not provided until after the 90 day probationary period. In these cases, a letter of intent or an offer letter is a good idea.
