Follow up after the interview should be considered an important part of the job search process. The first step is to learn about the hiring schedule, including when they hope to make a decision. A thank you note should be sent immediately after the interview, showing appreciation for the opportunity to interview, qualifications for the job and confirming a sincere interest in the position. All follow up should be professional, courteous and enthusiastic. The most difficult part of the process is being patient, because the hiring process often takes much longer than the employer expects.
