Long Distance Interviews
Richard Zelonka, a board member for Ultimar III in Clearwater reports that they have been using Skype to conduct interviews with an out of state candidate during their current manager search. The board of Ultimar III has been conducting personal interviews with local candidates. However, one of the managers they wanted to interview, Rod Slocum, was visiting his family in Michigan. Richard said, We have used Skype with respect to interviewing managers because it allows us to communicate visually and gives us the ability to be a lot more personal. Its the next best thing to being face to face.
Skype is a free internet based communication service, enabling people to interact with as many as 8 people simultaneously, and two parties can have video contact. If your computer monitor doesnt have a web camera, they can be purchased for as low as $25. Richard adds, You can also show documents, preliminary notes and photos of the community in real time.
